The activated coconut charcoal is made from specially selected and steam-treated coconut shells, allowing you to neutralize and harmonize the taste and smell of your distillates. Thanks to its iodine value (>900 mg/g) and granule size (0.55 - 2.4 mm), the carbon has a large pore volume and therefore a high capacity for adsorbing impurities that affect the color, taste, and smell of liquids. According to tests, the use of activated coconut charcoal provides significantly better results than the same process performed with coal-based carbon. Filtration in the column runs smoothly, the distillate flows evenly and fills the entire bed, and the final product has a standardized mild aroma and smooth taste without a yeast smell. One 1000 g pack allows filtration of up to 60 L of liquid. The product has a low ash content (<3%), so ash is not “washed out” during filtration and does not contaminate or affect the flavor of the liquids. Due to its versatile applications, the carbon can also be used in horticulture as a filter layer in pots and in the preparation of potting substrates.

Instructions for use:
Place the carbon on a sieve and pour hot water from a kettle over it. Then place the sieve with the carbon under running tap water (approx. 20°C) and rinse for about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the water runs clear. Allow the carbon to drain thoroughly. The carbon is then ready for use.
The principle of using activated carbon is similar to that of standard water filters. The flow time of 1 L of liquid through the filter bed should be at least 1 hour (the efficiency of adsorbing unwanted substances depends on the contact time between the liquid and the adsorbent). Alternatively, the activated carbon can be placed in a nylon mesh bag and directly immersed in the container with the liquid to be purified for at least 6 hours. The liquid should be stirred regularly. The effectiveness of the carbon also depends on the temperature of the liquid. Higher temperatures do not promote adsorption – the optimal temperature for the adsorption process is 10°C.
