Recipe for 3 liters of delicious homemade limoncello! For 3 liters of delicious limoncello
  • 7 large organic lemons (limes are also possible)
  • 1 liter 96% alcohol
  • 2 liters of water
  • 700 grams of sugar

Limoncello is made from the zest of the lemon. This gives it its beautiful yellow color. Peel the organic lemons with a vegetable peeler. Combine the skins and 96% alcohol in a large jar with a lid. Let the mixture sit for at least 10 days. The alcohol takes on the yellow / greenish color.

Strain the alcohol and keep the skins, these will be added to the sugar water later.

Boil 2 liters of water and add the white sugar while stirring. After the sugar has dissolved, add the preserved lemon peels and let the sugar water boil for 15 minutes.

The peels are no longer needed. Strain the sugar water and let it cool down.
Both mixtures have a yellow / greenish color, but do not resemble limoncello yet. "Wait until the magic happens!" 🍋

Combine both mixtures and stir well. The beautiful and well-known color of limoncello will show!
And such a beautiful drink naturally deserves a very nice bottle. Make sure that it seals well, so that the limoncello can be kept in the freezer. This way it is at its best and due to the alcohol percentage of 33% it will not freeze and it has a very long shelf life. Although that is an unnecessary luxury for us ...

Cheers!

Ps. Limoncello can also be made with a lower percentage of alcohol. However, the amount of water changes. The final alcohol percentage must remain around 33%.

Hallo, Wanneer ik zelf limoncello maak van 96% alcohol, is deze toch te sterk, kan ik het alcoholpercentage omlaag krijgen door nadat de Limoncello klaar is, meer water toe te voegen ?
