  • For measuring sugar and determining potential alcohol content - hydrometer useful for wine settings and beer wort, range: 0 to 30° Blg.
  • Unbreakable, handy test tube - a plastic cylinder for the liquid, has a comfortable flat bottom and will never break, which is an advantage over glass tubes.
  • Ranges of recommended concentrations are marked with colors - the range of sugar concentrations suitable for a particular stage of wine and beer fermentation are marked with colors on the hydrometer scale.
  • Measuring Tube with Closure - A closure has been added to the test tube to prevent the hydrometer from sliding out during transport or storage.
  • Easy measurement - the device is very easy to use. The measurement is made directly by reading the result on both scales.
  • Thermometer in the center of the hydrometer - thanks to practically direct contact with the wall of the hydrometer (capillary tip), it measures the temperature of the liquid, without any distortion.
A wine meter with thermometer is an indispensable device for quickly and accurately determining how much sugar is in the wine or beer wort. The wine meter is a hydrometer graduated in Balling degrees (° Blg) - 1° Blg corresponds approximately to 10 g of sugar in 1 L of juice (must). Thanks to two scales, you can also plan the strength of the wine with its help.

The test tube is made of plastic and therefore, unlike its glass counterparts, is unbreakable.

To make things easier, the ranges of recommended starting and ending sugar concentrations in must and beer wort are marked with different colors on the scale - so you don't need any additional calculations or tables:
- maroon area (22 - 25 ° Blg) - early concentration, dessert wine (sweet)
- yellow area (15 - 22 ° Blg) - initial concentration, table wine (dry)
- amber colored area (9 - 11 ° Blg) - initial concentration, beer
- green area (0 - 2 ° Blg ) - final concentration of beer
- red area (-2 - 0 ° Blg) - final concentration of wine

The method of using the wine meter is extremely simple. It is enough to place the hydrometer in the test tube and fill it with enough liquid to allow the float to float freely. The result is read from the scale based on the upper meniscus.

Since the devices are calibrated at 20 ° C, it is recommended to take the measurement at the same temperature, which is facilitated by a thermometer in the wine meter. Because the liquid changes concentration (molecules expand and contract) under the influence of temperature, the measurement at 20 ° C is most reliable and accurate.

Carrying out the sugar content measurement:

To make the measurement in the test tube, insert the hydrometer and pour in the liquid, free of solid particles and gas bubbles. The amount of liquid should be such that the float placed in the test tube floats freely and does not touch the walls of the reservoir.
The sugar value represents the upper value. See manual.
After measuring, pour out the liquid, do not eat.

Wine strength planning:

1 ° Blg corresponds approximately to 10 g sugar in 1 L must. The addition of 1 kg of sugar increases the volume of the must by 0.6 L. Before the fermentation starts, the sugar concentration in the must must not exceed 22 ° Blg. Suppose the meter reading is 16°Blg, a must with this sugar content produces a wine with a strength of about 7.3%. To get a wine with an alcohol content of 13%, the must must contain 260 grams of sugar per liter. The required supplement is 260 - 160 = 100 g/L. In order for the sugar concentration in the 22 ° Blg not to exceed 22 ° Blg, the necessary amount of sugar should be added in three equal portions: the first - before fermentation, the second and third - for example, on the 7th and 12th day of fermentation.

Beer wort testing:

Measuring the sugar content in the beer wort is done in the same way as when brewing the wine.

The kit includes:
- a plastic test tube
- a test tube stopper
- a hydrometer with a thermometer

Range: 0 to 30° Blg
