Young Rhode Island Red rooster

This American breed has been specially developed for laying eggs.
Originated in the state of Rhode Island in the second half of the 19th century.
The hens can lay about 215 eggs per year on average. In proportion, this breed makes pretty small eggs. Because of their physique they are not kites, so this is also an ideal chicken to keep both loose and in a run.
