Growing your own fruit and vegetables if groceries are too expensive due to inflation
Inflation records are broken every month, which is also reflected in the supermarket. Prices are skyrocketing, including for fruit and vegetables. The price tag of everything that has to be imported from abroad skyrockets. As far as IVN Nature Education is concerned, it is now even more important to pay attention to locally grown food. And even better: grow your vegetables all by yourself.
A head of organic lettuce in the supermarket quickly costs 2.50 euros. Also a bag of organic lettuce seeds. But you can quickly get a hundred heads of lettuce from that bag of lettuce seeds. You don't even need a lot of land for that. You can even grow a head of lettuce in a pot on your balcony. Count out your profit, so earned quickly. And yes, that also costs some compost, soil and work, but the latter is only a plus. Doing your own gardening provides additional benefits: free exercise, fresh air and relaxation.
school garden
Because of everything that is going on in the world now, we notice how dependent we have become with regard to our food supply. Knowing how to grow your food and grow your own food should be a basic skill. IVN Nature Education therefore not only calls on adults to get started in the vegetable garden themselves, but also wants vegetable gardening to be part of the curriculum at school. It is not for nothing that May has been declared School Garden Month.
healthy generation
Vegetable gardening has a lot to offer children. Get started outside, with your hands in the ground. Gaining respect for everything that lives with as a reward for all that good care a delicious meal that can be prepared at school or at home with fresh vegetables from the school garden. A single seed therefore offers so much more than just a head of lettuce. And the real profit is not only in the money saved, but in the foundation that is laid for the healthy development of our future generation.
