Terre de Sommière is a simple, traditional degreaser with amazingly strong absorbing powers: good to rediscover

Terre de Sommières, also known as Fez Soap "fuller's earth" or Fullersearth, is a clay with an extra fine lamellar structure. It is a simple, traditional stain remover with amazingly strong absorbent powers. It can be used to stain, absorb, neutralize, and wash hands of tinkerers and car mechanics.

Stains: it is dry to use and helps to remove grease stains (oil, butter, gazole, make-up, etc.) from fragile surfaces such as textiles, silk, furniture fabric, carpets, copper, marble, wooden furniture, floors without circles. (tiles, stone, parquet, concrete) ...
Absorbent and Neutralizing: it can also be used to absorb and neutralize urine stains on carpets or cushions, wine stains from tablecloths, ...
To be used as a hand cleaner - Hands of tinkerers and mechanics and car mechanics
The Terre de Sommières was discovered at the beginning of the XIX century in the village of Sommières, near Montpellier. Today it is collected in Morocco, where it is known under the name Soap of Fez.
  • Natural clay: 100% smectic clay without treatment
  • Great staining power
  • Absorbs 80% of its weight in water
  • Not flammable
  • PH around 8.5
  • Not toxic to nature

The principle and basis is: generously sprinkle the surface to be treated without rubbing. Leave on for a few hours, 2-3 hours minimum, a little more when the stain is old. Then rub, dip gently and then blow to remove the powder. The stain is gone.

For fabrics: After dusting and waiting for the powder to dry completely, brush the garment or fabric. This works very well for: grease stains on leather boots, buckskin, make-up on a leather bag, stains on clothing (wine, sweet drink ...), urine stains ...
Oil stains on parquet: First remove the excess grease from the oil with an absorbent paper or tissue paper. Then sprinkle the Terre de Sommières liberally on the stain, without rubbing, and leave for 2 to 3 hours minimum. Then rub the powder gently when it is soaked with the stain. Blow. If the stain remains, repeat this process one more time.
Shoe polish stain on oiled furniture / parquet: Take a clean and soft cloth, impregnate it with a little turpentine essence and Terre de Sommières. Then press lightly on the smear stain on your furniture / parquet. Leave to act for half a day. Then blow and renew the coat for protection / polishing.
Candle stains: First, delicately loosen the wax from the candle with a wooden spatula. If wax remains, place an absorbent paper / tissue paper over the stain and hold a warm iron over the stain to remelt the wax. Then sprinkle with Terre de Sommières. Wait overnight, scrub the loosened residue the next day, and blow clean.
For old stains: If the stain is old, heat it with a hairdryer or a hot iron before sprinkling with Terre de Sommières. The older the stain, the more often you have to repeat this process with Terre de Sommières until the stain has disappeared.
Oil or grease stains on granite or marble or stains from oil paint: First sprinkle the grease stain with Terre de Sommières. Leave on for 2 to 3 hours (read: half a day). Remove the powder using a vacuum cleaner or a turning brush. If the stain is stubborn, then it is possible to make a paste by mixing the soil with the essence of white spirit. Combine both ingredients so that the mixture is pasty and can penetrate the pores of the stone. Apply the paste using tweezers and leave to work for 12 to 24 hours.
For hobbyists and mechanics: After working on the engine of your car or motorcycle your hands are often dirty, but how do you get rid of that? Clay-like soil like Terre de Sommières, combined with water are very effective for this! Add water to the Terre de Sommières until you get a paste, then rub both hands. The mixture will wash your hands perfectly.

Precautionary measures :
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Try to stain a little visible part of the surface beforehand
  • Keep dry
